Say it ain’t so, Manny!

February 4th, 2007

Mothers, and in this case Pacquiao’s, know best, when she said “Kalimutan na niya na ina niya ako (He might as well forget I’m his mother)”, if the pugilist pushes through with his ill-conceived plan to run for public office.

I know my support doesn’t mean much even in the small scheme of things, nor will my undying hatred even dent the guy’s thick skull, but COME ON! This has got to be the worst mid-term elections in recent memory! [caveat: I say this every election]

We have an opposition with no common principle save a hatred for Gloria (which I support but not necessarily trust), an administration slate that’s no better than day-old turd, an electorate growing weary of the endless political bullshit and a “president” and military that is the true terrorist of the people.

And guess what, Manny? You’re not helping. You will suck so bad as an elected official, you will be used as a pawn, and you will ruin whatever honor your name still has after singing “Para sa ‘yo ang laban na ‘to”. You’ll be no better than your brother Bobby who took so many eggshots that it’s not even funny.

Granted, you came from poverty and may have a firm grasp of what people need. But do you know how to help solve these issues politically? If you want to help, go put up a hospital or a youth center or something. Call it the Manny Pacquiao Foundation and bask in the adoration of the underprivileged and middle class while sticking it up to the upper class. But for crying out loud, don’t be like the trapos! Don’t be GMA’s fool, because you will be if you run. You’ll win the elections — current voting trends being what it is — but you’ll lose more than just your dignity. You’re already a boxing hero. Don’t be a political villain.
