In her SONA last July 27, 2009, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo took a pot shot at Senator-and-presidential-aspirant Mar Roxas, saying:
Pursuant to law, I am placing other drugs under a maximum retail price. To those who want to be President, this advice: If you want something done, do it hard, do it well. Don’t pussyfoot. Just do it. Don’t say bad words in public.
Loathe as I am to admit it, I did smirk. Oh hell with it, I laughed. Out loud. That was fucking brilliant. After all, the good Senator has had a long history of being indecisive and timid; hell, he even had the freaking MILF telling him to get married already. When you have a separatist group giving you advice on your love life… well, that says something.
But when he finally showed some testicular fortitude (with 2010 fast approaching) by taking a concrete, point-of-no-return stand?
He gets spanked. The man gets no respect, I tell you:
There have been generally two negative reactions to Senator Mar Roxas’ use of foul language: there are some who were scandalized at the Senator for using gutter language; others write it off as a campaign gimmick. Because never mind that he (as do we) have every reason in the world to cuss and rant, it was too uncharacteristic; it just wasn’t him. Certain people can pull it off — I cuss every day and nobody blinks an eye. The trick is practice, and personality, and Mar Roxas just seems too genteel for that kind of language.
Now don’t get me wrong: I’m all for the guy taking a stand, albeit belatedly. I think he should have done it years ago, when it still meant something — you know, back when Gloria-bashing wasn’t a national pastime. But even if it’s just a show, I’m liking the angry Mar Roxas better than the docile one.
Your moment of Zen:
You broke my heart
‘Cause I couldn’t curse
You didn’t even want me around
And now I’m back, to let you know
I can really cuss ‘em downDo you love me? (I can really scream)
Do you love me? (I’m in the groove)
Ah do you love? (Do you love me)
Now that I can curse (curse)

Mar gets no respect from me. A leader should be the voice of the majority but for sure the majority doesn’t cuss for all to hear. As a leader he should have taken the reponsibility to channel sentiments in a more diplomatic and ethical way. Too bad, his marrying Corina Sanchez won’t help his campaign either… All his campaign gimmicks SUCK!!!

Mar should have handle it in a better and decent way. People gain’s respect based on how they give it to other whether an enemy or friend, both deserve a bit of it.
Halatang masama ugali ni Mar Roxas. ang dating niya sakin e yung tipong mainitin ulo tas nag babaet baetan lang sa tv. pero sa totoo, mainitin ulot mayabang…..
you don’t need to cuss for your hatred to be felt. he doesn’t deserve to be a leader. bleeech.
napansin ko ke mar roxas e mainitin ang ulo. promise. kahit nung nag hearing sa kaso ni villar, mayabang magsalita.puro yabang lang villar.
What I noticed about mar roxas is that when he talks, when he perform his speeches he sounds mayabang. I think he is really like that. He looks like he is so full of himself. I’m not surprised he can curse in public, cause he is a show off..poor mar, a public official is supposedly respectable, a role model for the youth, but mar roxas isn’t like that!
Ang dami nyang sinabi, di naman nya naranasan yun, why does’nt he be a man and do something about it and stop yapping like a girl.
