This post represents my personal opinion; sometimes it makes sense, often not. I reserve the right to edit/delete offensive comments, but I wouldn't mind a couple of politically incorrect statements here and there.
Reports from, well, everywhere, really, would seem to indicate that Malu Fernandez has resigned from both the Manila Standard and People Asia. Everywhere, that is, except from Manila Standard or People Asia. One thing that stood out among the many reasons she supposedly gave is that she’s been the target of death threats.

I don’t particularly care what she does anymore; I’ve let off steam and said my piece. By all means, fade into obscurity. But really, death threats?
There’s a distinct difference between getting a death threat and having people wish you dead. So enough with the drama and back to our regularly scheduled programming. Which reminds me: I rode the elevator with that girl today. Yay!

Nah, I think she resigned for “convenience” sake. She’s not sorry. I’m sure she’s still miffed & think of us bloggers as shite. She thinks this’ll all go away & lay to rest with that. Coward. Hiding behind print. There has to be consequences. She had her cake!
Sorry, maybe tomorrow, I’d be in a more forgiving mood. But as at now… I’m still not convinced.
@Carol: I feel the same way too. What I find unbelievable is na may death threats pa daw. As if.
did she really apologize or did some staff flunky/ publicist do all that stuff for her?
@jester: exactly!
heard the news about it … isa lang reaksyon ko. who care?!! whatever .. sira na repotasyon niya. mahiya siya sa pamilya niya. dapat sa kanya dalhin sa iwahig! wehehe
she could be creating her own blog under blogger or wordpress as we speak. in a pseudonym so she could bitch at everyone who rallied against her. i’m a psychic you know
whoop-d-freakin-doo… well… she still looks like a beached whale… so… death threat my… we have animal protection rights so… she’s safe from those
My sentiments, exactly! I think she’s only using the “death threat” issue to gain some sympathy. I can’t even feel the sincerity while reading the apology. If it was truly not her “intention to malign hurt or express prejudice against OFWs”, then why didn’t she just apologized imediately when criticisms to her articles exploded in the blogosphere?
On lighter note, so you rode the elevator with “that girl” recently? I hope this time you got her name and number. Man, I gotta give it to you: You got taste!
Don’t think I’m defending her, but I think this issue about her has to die down at some point. Truth of the matter is, all she did was act pretentious and matapobre out loud, which is bad but not evil enough for people to hate her this much. The witch (or should it be bitch) hunt should be over by now. Whether the threats to her life are made up or not, that’s her problem and should be ignored. She’s insensitive, and stupid, and fat and she doesn’t deserve your attention. Thank you, Jorge, for moving on.
@airwind: korek, who cares anymore ;p
@dexie: sayang nga di sya naka ride sa traffic spike, taas na sana PR ng blog nya haha
@marco: hahahaha, beached whale nga
@acero: i concur, more media doublespeak? and yes nakasama ko sya! pero usual torpe self pa din, kaynis. arg.
@lisa: i gave my reasons for my reaction in a previous post; it was very personal for me. that said, you’re right, she’s really not worth it
see, i knew it wasn’t really her apology nor “resignation”: http://cmfr-phil.blogspot.com/2007/08/malus-back.html
Iniisip ko pa naman hindi nagresign kundi pinagresign. Baka inunahan nya lang ung kumpanya, e un pala buhay pa rin amp!
Me araw din yan!
