This post represents my personal opinion; sometimes it makes sense, often not. I reserve the right to edit/delete offensive comments, but I wouldn't mind a couple of politically incorrect statements here and there.
Got this one from heffalet: iLike is a social network revolving around iTunes (although you can do without it, but really, there’s no reason not to download Apple’s music player). iLike installs a sidebar to iTunes that monitors your listening habits and can recommend similar artists and connect you to people who share the same musical tastes. The great thing about it is that it offers free downloads of obscure, yet decent, music from musicians that upload their stuff to the site. It’s a bit different from other music-discovery sites like Pandora, which is more like a radio anyway. But if music’s your thing, you’ll love iLike, so add me up!

I don’t like iLike - the sidebar eats up too much memory and the recommendations are lame - and I get spam messages on the site. Plus… I don’t know how to uninstall the sidebar - all in all pretty rubbish.
I would recommend you not to bother with it and use a combo of Last.FM and The Filter
Hmmm, I haven’t had much in the way of spam - yet. I’ve only used it a couple of days, and it might be cause for some concern. You’re right about the sidebar being a memory hog though, it’s eating up almost 30 megs of my system memory, although I was able to uninstall it via Windows Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs. I like Last.FM too, but with my net connection being all sorts of sucky, I tend to avoid streaming music as a whole. (I only use Pandora at work)
