This post represents my personal opinion; sometimes it makes sense, often not. I reserve the right to edit/delete offensive comments, but I wouldn't mind a couple of politically incorrect statements here and there.
And here I thought he was MIA. But his potshots at the military’s deployment in urban areas feels too little, too late, and aimed in the wrong direction. In a statement, Joker said that “the Armed services must restrain itself from digging into the past which was intended to be buried by past administrations”, noting that “there is something grievously wrong with the standing warrants for the arrest of Congressman Satur Ocampo and others and the continued detention of Congressman Crispin Beltran particularly for crimes allegedly committed before Edsa or during the martial law years.”
Pinning all this on the military is like taking painkillers when you’re dying of a gunshot wound: if you think it helps, you’re clearly deluded. That’s the same problem with the Mellow — er Melo — Report. Sure, it points fingers, and is a step in the right direction, but until they lay the smack down on the diminutive, vertically-challenged, obvious-but-untouchable mastermind, it’s nothing more than a stopgap measure. It does nothing to stop the culture of impunity and suppression that has been Gloria’s doctrine.
