I am so out of touch

Kitchie Nadal and other things

Ok, laugh later, but I swear I didn’t know Kitchie Nadal used to front Mojofly. I was always like “wow, she just came out of nowhere!” I’m bad with faces, I know. And names. And birthdays. And phone numbers. Doesn’t matter :)

Markku did a lot of us a favor by posting the lyrics and chords to the song “Wag na wag mong sasabihin”, and if you haven’t heard it or hummed to it, you’re more out of touch than I am. It’s a very cute and catchy song — catchy enough that someone who’s not so much into pop-rock (like me) starts to sing along. Sometimes. Ok, everytime I hear it. Dammet, nasira ang pagka metalista ko!

Manny and the 3K Battery

Yanig sa Taguig, Filipino pride, the road to boxing glory

One thing on my mind about this fight is Pacquiao had better win this fight, and in a big way. With Fashan “3K Battery” the overwhelming underdog despite defeating every Filipino fighter he’s gone on the ring with, Manny needs not just a win, he needs to make a statement to the boxing world at large. This fight isn’t about Filipino pride, getting even with 3K for all the pinoy boxers he’s floored. It’s about getting that killer instict back. You know, the one he lost when a draw was called in his match against Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez last May.

Dimebag Darrel killed at 38

Former Pantera guitarist, 3 others killed by gunman

Now I know how the fans of Randy Rhoades must have felt like when his plane crashed, of all places into their tour bus. Or all the Lenon fans. I have a long list of musicians who died an untimely death (aren’t they all?), from Duanne Allman, Cliff Burton, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, Jim Morrison, and Stevie Ray Vaughan to Karen Carpenter, but I’ve never actually had anything more than a slight twinge of pity. I wasn’t around (or aware) when they died, and while I appreciate their music, I wasn’t of their generation, and I never saw them live their lives.

The Life of Poodle

Learning by Doing

Poodle, the hamster, is of the Siberian (also known as the Winter White) variety, but I prefer Phodopus sungoris sungoris. SMIRK. Even the scientific name is cute :D They’re supposed to be the dwarves of hamsterkind, but Poodle is a wonderful exception because he’s not really that small; well, still smaller than other breeds but bigger than normal. Actually, he’s rather fat – he just loves those dried sunflower seeds, so much that he even eats them from my hand now :)

This isn’t a hobby; what started as an interesting experiment has become something really interesting and wonderful.

He lives in a bowl – well, an aquarium – because I didn’t have the heart to watch him go crazy gnawing away at the bars of his cage (so now he just basically slides around), and he loves to burrow under the wood shavings scattered all over his little home. It used to be a problem because I didn’t have a water bottle, and would just put a dish inside the aquarium, and he’d always end up spilling it all over the place. Now the water bottle hangs overhead, tied to one of the sides of his old cage. Yes, McGuyver be my name :)
